Hello and thank you for visiting my blog. You can call me Dr. Tabias Heal, and I am an ER doctor. Working in Emergency Rooms across the United States over the past 8 years has given me an intimate look into the lives of so many people – the good, the bad, the ugly and the clinically insane. In the current era of medical system melt-down, I thought to take the time to share some of these stories with the public to help them see the medical system from the eyes of the people that work in it everyday. The names have all been changed to protect medical privacy as well as my own privacy. It may change your perspective on a number of issues related to medicine and the medical system in the United States, or it just might make you laugh, cry and/or scream at the things people seek “medical” care for in our great nation’s Emergency Rooms. I sincerely hope though that you will learn something and benefit from what is written and I’ll be sure to answer questions if you have them – just don’t ask me for a work note ok?

LOL, ONE SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE HOPE AND DREAMS. I AGREE WITH THE LIST OF WHAT ONE SHOULD NOT BRING TO ER.
IT IS SHOCKING AT TIMES WHAT PATIENTS CAN BRING IN, ASSUMING THAT THEY ACTUALLY HELPING THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS OUT.
LIKE THE GUY WHO BROUGHT IN THE TWO RATTLE SNAKE IN,WHICH BIT HIM, BUT FOUND ONLY ONE IN THE SACK. AFTER 1 HR OF SEARCHING THE ER BY SECURITY HE REALIZED THAT THE SNAKE WAS IN ANOTHER SACK AND HE LEFT IT IN THE CAR, WHICH HIS DAUGHTER IS DRIVING HOME AS WE SPEAK. WELL, JUST AS HE REALIZED THIS,WE GOT A DISPATCH THAT THE AMBULANCE IS BRINGING IN A YOUNG LADY WITH A SNAKE BITE……YEH YOU GUESS THAT, SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER.

Your writing is a wonderful education for those outside of the world of healthcare. Maybe Obama should encourage Congress to read this stuff before deciding on where our healthcare system is going. If you add that no country with universal coverage allows profit on basic coverage and the insurance industry is fighting for profit, we have the major components that need to be addressed in reform. How can we get this information out there?

Thanks for your thoughtful comment LostHistory. I think a lot of us in the Healthcare industry wish that Congress would talk to those on the “front-lines” instead of out of touch execs. There is no doubt that lobbying by several groups interested in protecting their highway robbery of the medical system is preventing effective change. I personally am not sure if universal coverage is the answer but I think most would agree that getting HMO’s and other middlemen out of the picture would be a good start.
